On-Site Meeting Logistics

Meeting Location

The meeting will take place at the Berkeley Lab main site, in buildings 50, 59, 67, 70A, and 91.

Site Access for Participants

If you do not have an active, valid Berkeley Lab employee or affiliate badge, you will need to follow our instructions for accessing the site. All registered on-site participants have been added to the approved guest access list for August 14-15, with summer school participants also added for August 13.  All guests received a site access QR code via email from Berkeley Lab site access. Be prepared to show this code on your mobile device or a paper print-out. Be prepared to show government-issued ID such as a driver’s license or passport for verification when entering the Gate.

Parking and Shuttles

Parking near the event is limited, and we encourage all who are able to use the shuttle system, or to bike or carpool.

Meeting participants may ride the Berkeley Lab Shuttle from downtown Berkeley, Rockridge, etc. Please see this page for more information: https://commute.lbl.gov/service/shuttle-buses/ Guests may show their Lab access QR code to board the shuttle.

Several parking lots in downtown Berkeley have close proximity to the Berkeley Lab Blue shuttle, including the Oxford garage at 2165 Kittredge Street which is near the Blue line shuttle stop at Allston and Shattuck. Blue line map and schedule are available here: https://commute.lbl.gov/resource/shuttle-buses/maps-routes-schedules/blue-route/ A list of Berkeley city parking lots is available here: https://berkeleyca.gov/city-services/parking/parking-garages-and-lots

Meeting participants who are staying at the Guest House should park in the Guest House parking lot near building 23.

Lab employees and affiliates with parking privileges on site are encouraged to park close to building 67 and ride the shuttle or walk if you are able.

We have reserved a few assigned parking spots for our meeting sponsors, caterers, invited speakers who have short timelines related to flights, and those requiring special accommodations.

If you have a need for an accommodation related to parking, please reach out to Kristen Granados kgranados@lbl.gov

Guests Enter at Blackberry Gate

Any meeting participants without an employee or affiliate badge arriving by rideshare or personal vehicle should enter at Blackberry Gate on the West side of the Lab site. Our large site has one formal street address, and sometimes GPS systems can land you at a Gate reserved for badged employees and affiliates. Please note that Hearst Avenue meets Highland Place near the Blackberry Gate entrance, which is straight up the hill via Hearst which turns into Cyclotron Road.

Strawberry Gate is Closed for Upgrades

Badged employees and affiliates may use Blackberry Gate or Grizzly Gate for entry. Please note that the Strawberry Gate is closed for upgrades, with an anticipated project end date in August. We will update this statement if the gate opens prior to the meeting.
